Workshop ‘Digital Innovation for Sustainable Agriculture’

16.09.2020

Efficiency potentials, costs and benefits of precision agriculture in a small-scale agricultural landscape

Digital innovations such as precision farming have great potential with regard to making agriculture more sustainable. To increase the uptake of innovative technologies, additional incentives and farmers’ cooperatives are essential in Swiss agriculture, as the added economic value for individual farmers is often too small. This is one of the key findings of the project ‘Digital innovations for sustainable agriculture’.

In this context, workshop participants suggested combining precision farming and blockchain technology to create added value as well as encouraging farmers to connect and learn from each other. The prioritised call to action of this workshop is to encourage innovation aimed at ecological production through new technologies.
